From nearby amenities and local haunts to farther-flung spots worth paying a visit to, here’s a quick look at what Perth has to offer.
Just around the corner
Eclectic is the order of the day when you’re exploring Perth’s food scene. Home to a variety of cuisines from Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese to Korean, Japanese and even Egyptian, Perth’s wide range of gastronomic delights will leave you spoilt for choice.
Here’s a special tip for you: head down William Street in Northbridge to try some succulent Chinese roast duck that’ll leave you salivating for more. Don’t forget to check out a few of Perth’s fabulous fine-dining spots, which are located around St Georges Terrace as well as the Esplanade and Barrack Street jetty areas.
Go the distance
Feeling adventurous? Why not explore Perth’s surrounding suburbs via the city’s biking/walking trails?
Be awed by astronomical bodies at the Scitech Discovery Centre’s planetarium, or hop on the Blue CAT that’ll take you to the Western Australian Museum, home to Western Australia’s scientific and cultural collections. WACA Ground and Subiaco Oval, gathering places for the city’s cricket and Aussie Rules footie faithful, are not to be missed either. Meanwhile, animal aficionados will definitely relish a trip to Perth Zoo in nearby South Perth.
As the day ends, take a stroll at Kings Park, Swan River or the re-opened Elizabeth Quay, all of which boast beautiful views and scenery.
If you’ve got time to spare, take a drive somewhere far out. Immerse yourself underwater at the Aquarium of Western Australia or enjoy some fun in the sun at Adventure World. Remember to pack your sunscreen!
Alternatively, sample delicious wines, cheeses and chocolates and stop to literally smell the flowers as you drive through beautiful Swan Valley. For something really different, get a glimpse into the murky depths of Fremantle Prison by going on one of its exciting guided night tours.
